Amala John

Undergraduate Student

Amala John is a junior undergraduate student in the Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University. She holds several key leadership positions in her involvements on campus, including Secretary of Engineers Without Borders, Freshman Mentor for the Society of Women Engineers, and Nursing Home Ministry Co-Founder in the St.Isidore's Leadership Team. Additionally, Amala studied abroad in Japan, where she met with Japanese software companies and discussed industry workflow and company culture in Computer Science worldwide. She has been recognized on the Dean's List during all her semesters at K-State and is also recognized as an Ice Scholar, Engineering Leadership and Innovation Scholar, Project IMPACT Scholar, and University Scholar.

Amala is interested in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Large-Scale Data Analysis. In the summer of 2024, she joined Koncordant Lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant under Dr. Hande McGinty. She is currently working on creating a sentiment analysis program for food-related behaviors.
